Why Choose Attuned Psychiatry for TMS

Targeted H-Coil Precision: BrainsWay H1-Coil & H7-Coil Deep TMS™

Most clinics only offer a single standard figure-8 coil and treat every patient the same way. At Attuned Psychiatry, we offer BrainsWay Deep TMS™ with both the H1-Coil and H7-Coil so your treatment protocol is custom-matched to your brain.

BrainsWay Deep TMS™ (H1 & H7 Coils)

Utilizes patented cushioned H-Coil helmets that reach deeper and broader brain structures than traditional coils—FDA-cleared for Major Depressive Disorder, Anxious Depression, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Physician Consultation and Precision Mapping

BrainsWay H7-Coil (OCD) & SWIFT™

Directly targets the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) for FDA-cleared Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder relief, alongside Accelerated 5-Day SWIFT™ theta-burst protocols.

Comfortable Non-Invasive BrainsWay Deep TMS Session

Zero Systemic Side Effects

Unlike oral antidepressants, TMS does not circulate through your bloodstream—meaning no weight gain, sexual dysfunction, emotional blunting, gastrointestinal upset, or daytime sedation.

Evidence-Based Neuroplasticity

Real Change You Can See in Brain Activity

Depression and OCD aren't personal failings—they involve measurable changes in brain circuit activity and connectivity. Advanced interventional treatments like BrainsWay Deep TMS™ and SPRAVATO® work directly on underactive neural networks to restore healthy signaling and neuroplasticity.

The Science of Patented H-Coil Technology

Why Depth & Breadth Matter in BrainsWay Deep TMS™

Peer-reviewed electric field modeling and head-to-head randomized controlled trials demonstrate how BrainsWay's patented H-Coil architecture overcomes the depth decay limitations of standard figure-8 coils.

BrainsWay H-Coil vs Figure-8 Coil Electric Field Decay Profile with Depth

Deeper Cortical Penetration

Flexible geometric H-Coil windings minimize non-tangential electric field components and sum pulses synergistically—significantly slowing electric field decay at depth.

Head-to-Head RCT Comparing BrainsWay H1 Coil + Medication vs Figure-8 Coil + Medication

Superior Head-to-Head RCT Efficacy

In independent randomized controlled trials comparing H1-Coil Deep TMS vs. standard Figure-8 TMS, Deep TMS achieved higher clinical response rates (67% vs. 44%) and greater HAM-D score reductions.

STAR*D Study Diminishing Remission Rates & Escalating Side Effects with Oral Antidepressants

Breaking the STAR*D Medication Cycle

The landmark NIMH STAR*D study showed that after 2 to 3 failed oral medications, remission rates drop below 14% while systemic side effects climb above 70%. Deep TMS bypasses this plateau.

FDA-Cleared BrainsWay Deep TMS™ Protocols

Targeted Protocols for MDD, Anxious Depression & OCD

Explore the clinical trial results and treatment timelines for each FDA-cleared BrainsWay Deep TMS™ indication available at Attuned Psychiatry.

Indication 01 • BrainsWay H1-Coil

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

BrainsWay Deep TMS™ stimulates bilateral prefrontal cortical networks with a focus on the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC). In real-world clinical settings spanning over 1,300 patients completing 30+ sessions:

  • 81.7% Clinical Response Rate and 65.3% Remission Rate in real-world outcomes
  • 63 days median time to remission (~20 sessions) with 86% sustained durability at 1-year follow-up
  • Available in both Standard 36-Session (20-min) and 3-Minute Theta Burst (iTBS) or Accelerated SWIFT protocols

Indication 02 • BrainsWay H1-Coil

Anxious Depression

Between 50% and 75% of patients with Major Depressive Disorder also experience significant comorbid anxiety symptoms—making symptoms harder to treat with traditional medications. BrainsWay Deep TMS™ is FDA-cleared to reduce both depressive and anxiety symptoms simultaneously.

  • 85.5% Anxiety Response Rate in real-world clinical settings after 30 sessions
  • Large 0.89 Effect Size across pooled randomized controlled trials (far exceeding the 0.34 effect size of standard pharmacotherapy)
  • Calms hyperactive worry circuits while restoring prefrontal mood regulation

Indication 03 • BrainsWay H7-Coil

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

BrainsWay was the first non-invasive medical device cleared by the FDA for OCD. Unlike depression coils that target the lateral prefrontal cortex, the specialized BrainsWay H7-Coil directly reaches deep into the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC)—the core neural hub driving intrusive obsessions and compulsions.

  • 57.9% Clinical Response Rate and >70% achieve Landmark Milestone Improvement on the Y-BOCS scale
  • 87% of responders maintain durability for ≥ 1 year after completing treatment
  • 18-minute daily sessions over 6 weeks, paired with brief individualized symptom provocation

Understanding Your Brain

Neuroanatomy & Circuit-Based Psychiatry

Depression, anxiety, and OCD are circuit disorders involving communication between the prefrontal cortex, motor and sensory networks, and deep limbic structures. Explore our clinical neuroanatomy guides below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear Answers to Common Questions

Attuned Psychiatry is equipped with BrainsWay Deep TMS™ featuring both the H1-Coil (for Major Depressive Disorder and Anxious Depression) and the H7-Coil (for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). Unlike traditional figure-8 rTMS coils that only stimulate a narrow focal point on the cortical surface, BrainsWay's patented H-Coil architecture stimulates deeper and broader prefrontal and anterior cingulate brain networks—minimizing targeting error and maximizing clinical remission rates.

No. TMS is completely non-invasive and requires no anesthesia, sedation, or recovery time. You remain awake and alert in a comfortable treatment chair while feeling a gentle tapping sensation on your scalp. You can drive yourself to and from every appointment and return immediately to work or daily activities.

A standard course of TMS consists of 36 sessions delivered 5 days a week (Monday through Friday) over approximately 6 to 7 weeks, followed by a brief taper. Each session lasts only 18 to 20 minutes. For patients seeking faster relief, we also offer our Accelerated 5-Day SWIFT TMS protocol.

Yes! TMS therapy for Major Depressive Disorder, Anxious Depression, and BrainsWay Deep TMS for OCD is covered by Medicare and almost all major commercial insurance plans after prior antidepressant trials. Our prior authorization team handles the entire approval process for you.
